I love food. I understand that at it’s basic level, food is meant to sustain us and keep us healthy. But I am one of those people who truly enjoys good food. And I love when I can make a healthy snack that tastes so stinkin good I want it everyday. That’s my goal.
I don’t want to lose weight by depriving myself of everything good. I want to find the things that taste good and are also good for my body.
My latest go-to snack can be prepared two different ways, which means I can use it as a side dish at a meal, or as a snack. It’s a greek yogurt based “dip” that is just so tasty. If you need a snack, slice up some cucumber and dip it into your bowl (feel free to dip other healthy veggies, or anything you want). If you need a side dish, cube up the cucumber and stir it right in to make a sort of salad. Greek yogurt is packed with protein, and apple cider vinegar has a huge list of health benefits. No surprise here, but eating the entire container in one sitting is not good for you.
Now, my “recipe” might get a little fuzzy here. Because there is some serious guesstimating going on usually. Try a little more or less of ingredients if you want to.
Jamie’s Favourite Greek Yogurt Dip
– Small container of plain greek yogurt (ideally full fat, but that’s up to you)
– ¼ cup Apple Cider Vingear (more if it’s too thick, less if it’s too thin)
– 1 tsp salt, or to taste
– ¼ of a sweet onion, chopped (tiny pieces or big chunks, your preference)
Stir it all together (I mix it right in the yogurt container) and put it in the fridge for the flavours to really meld together. Leave it a few hours or overnight, if you can. If you love herbs, there are a million opportunities to add your favourite. Dill would be awesome in this mix.
Give the recipe a try, and then comment below with your favourite item to dip in it, whether you added additional herbs, or if you made it as a salad!
